The largest ballcourt built in Mesoamerica, the Great Ballcourt at Chichén Itzá
has several temples associated with it— the Upper- and Lower Temples of the Jaguar,
and the North Temple at the far end. Along the sloping side walls of the court, the
visitor can see the sacrificial nature of the game in the set of bas-relief carvings depicting
the ritual aspects of the ballgame and its sacrificial outcome.
