Village Road & Camp

The Project field camp lies on the eastern edge of the Maya village of Yaxuná. On this roadside every morning during the field season the men of the village gather to take rollcall and get their assignments for the day's excavation work. In the eveningtime the farmers and housewives and sometimes small boys on horses pass by on their way home burdened with firewood for the kitchen hearths.
